The current discussion about apprenticeship, scholastics and career entry alienates young people and their families. Career magazines and guidebooks always present the typical CV’s of show-offs, with perfect degrees, international experience and high starting salaries. Many young people have the wish to work “somewhere in the media branche”. But actually they have no special career in mind. There are big differences between an web programmer and a journalist. Anyone who doesn’t inform himself properly, quickly picks the wrong subject.
But how do you find the right way? Who can you trust and who can help you deciding? Should you choose a course of studies because its title sounds ‘cool’, or should you inform yourself more deeply about the topics and possible career perspectives?
We intend to show that young people are responsible for their own for their apprenticeship, studies and career. It isn’t right to name only the government, universities or instructors the guilty ones, when it’s about your own uncertainty and angst. Therefore we talked to students, apprentices and young professionals. We looked at their career, aims, pitfalls and personal goals. Besides articles about personal experience, the magazine will present concrete regional apprenticeship possibilities and clarify the manifoldness of the media branch considering some minor and major companies as examples.
